RIPS – Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS) 2010
Matheon will be the host for RIPS in Berlin in summer 2010. The program RIPS
is organized by the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) and
Matheon. Eight U.S. students and eight European students will work on
cross-cultural teams on four projects, each sponsored by a company based in
the Berlin area, or a U.S. company with a presence in Berlin.
RIPS students from the United States and Europe will form close professional
and personal relationships and live, work and socialize together over the
summer. The students will have offices at the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB),
located on the campus of the Freie Universitaet (FU) Berlin. Matheon will
provide technical support as well as some social activities, informal German
lessons, and occasional guest lectures. Students stay in a nearby dormitory.
All expenses are paid, including round-trip travel from your residence or
home institution to Berlin, accommodations, and most meals.
The program will be conducted in English. All European participants
must be able to speak and understanding English.
Please send your application per email (address will be provided soon).
European students may apply through Matheon. U.S. citizens and permanent
residents are only eligible to apply through IPAM. It is essential that the students are available for the
duration of the program; late arrivals and early departures are not
possible. Please compare the dates of the program to your schoolıs academic
calendar before applying.
The project starts on June 7, 2010 and ends on July 31, 2010.
